Dr. Michael Havens

Dr. Michael Havens, DVM

In 1996, after practicing with corporate clinics in Hamilton County for several years, Dr. Mike Havens opened Parkside Animal Hospital in order to devote more time and personal attention to clients and their pets. Since then the practice has grown tremendously and facilitated the construction of a new state-of-the-art facility in 2004.

Dr. Mike grew up in the Carmel area, attended Carmel Junior High, and then moved to Columbus, Ohio to finish high school. He attended Veterinary College at the Ohio State University and graduated in 1989, beginning his career in Muncie before moving back to the Fishers/Carmel area in 1991. Special interests in medicine include soft tissue surgery and wildlife rehabilitation.

With his wife, Beth, he’s raising 4 animal crazy boys, along with a few cats, snakes, lizards, spiders and whatever else the kids can catch. Having kids in schools with class pets has allowed Dr. Mike to indulge his interest in pocket pets of all sorts, and he does quite a bit of pro bono work for the area elementary schools. Weekend sports with the kids, bonsai trees, computer games and family keep Dr Mike fairly busy outside the practice.

Dr. Craig Johnson

Dr. Craig A. Johnson, DVM

Dr. Johnson was born in Cedar Falls, Iowa. A world traveler before he ever made it to high school, he spent three years living in Bangkok, Thailand and seven years in South Africa. His parents finally laid down roots in Zionsville, Indiana and he graduated from Zionsville High School in 1991.  He then attended Purdue University and received his Bachelor of Science in 1995 and  Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2000.

Upon graduating, he practiced at Care Animal Hospital in Muncie, Indiana, before joining Parkside Animal Hospital as a part-owner in May, 2002. His interests in veterinary medicine include ultrasound and soft tissue surgery.

Dr. Johnson resides in Carmel with his wife Corinne, and 3 children, Benjamin, Jack, and Ellie. In his leisure time he enjoys golf…golf…and more golf. If you can’t find him in the clinic, you can be sure he’s either hanging out with his wife and kids or good friends, watching a movie or reality television, or at a sporting event (Boiler Up!) Or, naturally, on the golf course.
